What’s the difference between a Retail and Sales job?
MHS619 asked:
I’ve been currently looking for a part-time job and would like to be those people that just stock and help people and stuff. Is that called working “retail” or “sales”? What’s the difference?

In short, retail is what you are looking for; replenishing stock, helping customers and stuff like that.
Generally Retail is working in store or outlet, being a shop assistant or manager. There are higher level careers in retail. Behind every store are several men in suits. Business structure and development is very different to working in store, but its’ all part of the same picture.
Sales is working either in an office, or door-to-door (field sales). Or can be in store, think phone stores and the like, but its’ basically all the ‘hard’ sell stuff.
It takes a certain personality to pull off sales and a certain ease of conscionce, since you tend to bend the truth here and there if it will nail a good sale.
Hope this helps.
Good luck with the job hunt.
Good Luck.
