Could I sue the mortgage industry for my slow retail sales?

retail sales
EyeLuvSophie asked:

Every report I read on retail spending states that because of the housing crisis, retail sales will drop. There are hundreds of reports out there all pointing fingers at the industry for a number of economical woes. My retail sales were great before the housing market took other markets down with it. Couldn’t I sue the subprime lenders for damaging my area of the economy? Anyone want to represent me?

Sure. You can spend millions to become the laughing stock of your town.

Sounds good to me; if you sue for enough, maybe the government will bail you out.

You sure could. In this country you can sue somebody because you don’t like the way their farts smell. You would, of course, lose your case.

Sue the people who took out those subprime loans for houses they could never afford, and now whine because the interest rates went through the roof.

Sue all the people who don’t get the simple concept of living within their means.

Sue the mortgage company as well for not telling people up front that they could not afford the house and sending them packing!

Good Luck. That lawsuit would have as much chance as a snowball in hell. But with our flawed legal system, I bet you can get an ambulance chaser to take your case.

I don’t believe that they’ll be anything left for the plaintiffs after all of the foreclosures and unpaid debts, along with congressional whippings, lost revenues and so on.
I am an independent contractor - and believe me - I feel your pain.

Sure, then I will sue you and the retail industry because people spend their money there instead of on my services.

“Sue an industy”! Ha! Good one!
