It's a fabulous mid-thigh length, not too long, but long enough and has a removable hood.  It keeps me warm in the coldest weather.  There are many different makers of womens winter jackets to choose from.  Make sure you choose based on the area in which you live.  If you live in the mid-Atlantic you don't necessarily need a coat that will keep you warm up to -40 degrees. It may be too warm.
